At WAIV, mentoring is at the heart of our mission. Whether it’s encouraging and guiding younger colleagues, sharing insights with peers, or helping women pivot into new careers we’ve learned that the right tools can make a mentorship session feel effortless, meaningful, and even fun.
One of our absolute favorites is the MacBook Pro (M4). We use it constantly for reviewing mentee presentations, sharing resources, and keeping everything organized. Its speed and clarity make working across time zones seamless.
We also love the Sony WH-1000XM5 Noise-Canceling Headphones for focus sessions. When we’re recording feedback, hosting workshops, or catching up on professional development, these headphones create a bubble of calm — perfect for mentoring from anywhere.
The Kindle Scribe has become a team favorite for sharing reading lists and annotated notes. We’ve found that it encourages mentees to engage more deeply — they can see our thoughts on the page, highlight ideas, and even add their own reflections.
This little cube timer sits on your desk- flip it to 15, 30, or 60 minutes depending on how much focus you need. It’s our secret weapon for respecting mentor/mentee time boundaries and keeping conversations intentional instead of sprawling.
For virtual check-ins, the Logitech Brio 4K Webcam is our go-to. Crisp video makes remote conversations feel personal, almost like sitting across from someone at a table. It’s a small thing, but the impact on communication is huge.
Finally, for capturing workshops or demoing presentations, we can’t get enough of the DJI Pocket 3 Camera. We’ve used it to record mentoring moments, then share them with mentees for review. It keeps learning tangible and actionable.
We love these tools because they help us do what we do best: mentor thoughtfully, efficiently, and creatively. Technology doesn’t replace the human connection, but it can extend it in ways that feel natural and empowering. For us at WAIV, these are the tools that make mentorship more than guidance. They make it a shared journey.
